Butterfly Gardens
Butterflies go through a complex life cycle that consists of four distinct developmental stages: egg, caterpillar, chrysalis, and adult.
When eggs hatch, they release tiny caterpillars that immediately begin feeding on its host plant. These are plants that adult butterflies lay their eggs on. After a couple weeks of constant eating and growing, the caterpillar seeks a safe place to go through metamorphosis. After a short rest, the caterpillar transforms into a chrysalis where an amazing metamorphosis takes place. In a few weeks, the chrysalis splits open and a beautiful butterfly emerges. Within an hour, the butterfly has dried its wings and is ready to fly.
You can see this all at Grande Lakes Orlando in the Butterfly gardens located on The Ritz-Carlton Da Vinci Lawn and the JW Marriott Lakeside Terrace.
