 Orlando, FL – January 2011 – The 500-acre Grande Lakes Orlando resort welcomes two new members to the food & beverage team. 

Chris Brown has been appointed Executive Chef at JW Marriott Orlando, Grande Lakes. In this position, he will oversee all culinary operations at the 1,000-room property, including Melissa Kelly’s Primo, the hotel’s AAA Four Diamond Award-winning restaurant. 

A renowned, award-winning barbeque pitmaster, Chef Brown returns to Grande Lakes Orlando after expanding his ten-year culinary repertoire in New Orleans, Orlando and Tucson. Chris most recently served as Executive Chef at JW Marriott Tucson Starr Pass, where he managed five restaurants, including Catalina Barbeque Company; a brand new concept he introduced to the hotel. Prior to that position, he was Executive Banquet Chef at Orlando World Center Marriott. Chef Brown furthered his gastronomic career as Senior Banquet Chef and Executive Sous Chef at JW Marriott Orlando, Grande Lakes and as Assistant Banquet Chef at the New Orleans Marriott.  

Chef Brown holds a Bachelor of Arts in Food Service Management from Johnson & Wales University in Charleston, SC, where he graduated Summa Cum Laude.  He is a certified Master BBQ Cook and KCBS (Kansas City Barbeque Society) Certified Judge.

 At JW Marriott, Orlando, Grande Lakes, Chef Brown joins the F&B team managed by the newly appointed Director of Food & Beverage, Steve Lipschutz. Mr. Lipschutz oversees the management of the resort’s F&B department to ensure operations meet the highest standards. He was most recently Director of Food & Beverage at the Marco Island Marriott Resort, where he served in the position for 11 years. During that time, Mr. Lipschutz re-conceptualized and renovated each and every restaurant and cafe to create a very successful and profitable operation.     

He has 23 years of Marriott experience and brings an extensive wealth of knowledge to the table as a result of nearly 35 years in the restaurant business.
