Grande Lakes Orlando Shines for Its Anniversary This Summer

Orlando’s Luxe Leader Promises a Year of “Grande” Celebrations

Orlando, FL – May 1, 2013 – This summer, the 500-acre estate that elevated the country’s number one destination to a new level when it opened, celebrates 10 years of bringing luxury to Orlando.  Grande Lakes opened in July 2003 as the first luxury resort in Orlando and continues today to set the standard for service excellence expected by the most discerning of travelers.  Comprised of The Ritz-Carlton and JW Marriott as well as a Ritz-Carlton Spa and an 18-hole Greg Norman championship golf course, the Orlando resort will mark its 10th year with a fanfare of special activities and promotions throughout the year, including a host of anniversary themed amenities, travel packages and a celebrity chef dinner hosted by Chef Norman Van Aken whose renowned restaurant NORMAN’S at The Ritz-Carlton is one of the Orlando’s finest dining experiences.

“When Grande Lakes opened 10 years ago, it redefined Orlando for business and leisure guests alike and year after year we have sought to enhance our offerings to create unique memories for our guests,” says Jim Burns, Vice President and Managing Director, Grande Lakes Orlando. “Our 2013 anniversary activities seek to celebrate not only our past, but look toward another decade of providing our guests with an authentic experience at the highest levels of service.”

In the last 10 years, Grande Lakes has continued to create the kinds of experiences and services that keep guests coming back, including activities such as eco-tours and fishing on Shingle Creek, new and innovative spa treatments, the recent unveiling of new guest rooms at both hotels as well as renovations and expansions to the meetings and conference facilities that will be completed in 2015.  Most recently, in the Fall of 2012, Grande Lakes debuted Whisper Creek Farm, a 7,000-square-foot fruit and vegetable garden with an adjoining 6,000-square-foot outdoor event space.

Grande Lakes encourages its guests to take part in the 10-year celebrations, including NORMAN’s black tie gala on August 24, 2013 that will feature a multi-course dinner executed by celebrity chefs Charlie Trotter, Emeril Lagasse, Dean Fearing, as well as the legendary Jeremiah Tower and several of Orlando’s finest chefs including The Ritz-Carlton Orlando’s Executive Chef Sean Woods.  Chef Norman Van Aken has also invited six Master Sommeliers to elegantly pair wines with each course.  The cost for the black-tie gala including pre-dinner cocktail reception and autographed cookbooks by each of the chef-authors is $1,000 per person.

Later in the year, Chef Melissa Kelly of the award-winning restaurant PRIMO at the JW Marriott Orlando will host a dinner at Whisper Creek Farm that will show off the celebrated farm-to-table philosophy, which Kelly introduced to the Orlando market a decade ago.

Guests of both luxury hotels can also expect a multitude of celebratory offerings throughout the year, from special restaurant menus featuring creative, ten-year-inspired dishes to unique additions on the spa menu and other signature anniversary amenities, all designed to retain Grande Lakes’ position as Orlando’s luxury leader.
